Talc Dragon

Description

I'm tired of messing with this picture, as I've been picking at it for the past month or so.

----

It was thought at first that perhaps nature had played a cruel trick of sorts on this humble species of dragon; compared to the grand dragons that soared the skies in various legends, the Talc Dragon possesses extremely soft scales, so soft that even the mere act of scratching an itch can cause them to break away into dust (as demonstrated by this rather perturbed fellow). However, those same powdery scales are the Talc Dragon's first defenses against predators, as few things want to experience a mouthful of dry, tasteless powder.

The end of the tail, which normally contrasts sharply with the overall gray-white of the dragon, has been seen to be used both as a signal to others (usually of warning), and as an indication of health. The tails of younger, healthier dragons are usually a deep purple-black, while old age tends to fade that color to more of a violet or even lilac.

----

Yeah, I dunno. Was just thinking one night of how I seemed to see dragons based off plenty of other kinds of minerals, especially gemstones...and it gave birth to both this picture and the blurb above.

(Talc dragon idea is mine)
